Bistro Solé Restaurant

This painted window and surrealistic image within it

is on the patio of Bistro Solé, a restaurant in Cambria, California.

The entire piece is painted on a panel that is mounted on the wall.

This photograph is slightly different than the actual hanging piece.

The artist and the window in 1996.

The owners changed the color of the outside of the building

during a remodel three years after the painting was originally hung.

The color seen though the glass in the lower photo is the original color.

The color in the top photo matches the new building.

Venus waits calmly among strong white pillars of stone.

A painting on the wall at the top of a stairway is apparently framed in wood

designed to match the half round log ceilings in this western style home. It is

all painted, and casts painted shadows onto the wall.

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 storefront, a "controlled burn" using acrylic paint.

Before the trompe l'oeil, people rarely stopped as they drove by.

After the 'paint fire' people stopped to take photos and come inside.

This Trompe l'Oeil really worked it's magic!

It prompted some worried calls to the owner before the signage went up.

A detail of the painted broken windows and charred wood.
